One of the deliverables within the Capstone course is your individual e-portfolio. The purpose of the portfolio is to gather, organize and present evidence of your qualifications for practice in the field of distance education, and to demonstrate your competencies, knowledge and skills in a variety of distance education contexts. We envision that the e-portfolio will constitute in a tool that will support your entry into or advancement in the field of distance education.

The e-portfolio should include the following components in a web-based format:

  • Sample work/artifacts with reflections on your learning
  • Resumé (CV)
  • Summative reflection on your MDE experience
  • Any other artifacts (products) that you believe reflect your professional achievements and background, and are an important part of your professional portrait

Sample of work and artifacts should include substantive assignments selected from previous MDE courses you have completed.

  • The best way to select your artifacts is to try to match them to the MDE Program Outcomes, which can be found here: http://bit.ly/W827ih

You might also want to include a photo(s), and possibly multimedia components (audio, video and presentations).

The summative reflection should convey:

  • How you have developed personally and professionally as an MDE student,
  • How the MDE curriculum has affected your evolution in the field,
  • What your further goals are, and
  • How you intend to pursue these.

Your e-portfolio will be graded on a pass/fail basis. Here is the rubric for your MDE e-portfolio:
